I like Hanamaru-chan!
She is called “Zura-Maru” by Yoshiko Tsushima.
What is “Zura”?
Hanamaru sometimes put “zura” at ends of her words.
Like this, we can know and express characteristics by ends of words.
For other example, “ze(daze)” means a man.
マジだぜ！！Mazi daze!!(I’m serious daze!!)
Daze means a man(Doraemon is a man)
やれやれだぜYareyare daze(Give me a break daze)
“nanoda” means innocence.
了解なのだ！Roukai nanoda!(Ok nanoda!)
“gozaru” is Japanese old word and means ninja or samurai
答えでござる！Kotae de gozaru!(It’s answer gozaru!)
勝負でござるShobu de gozaru(Let’s game gozaru!)
“desu” means politeness
青山月子ですAoyama Tsukiko desu(I’m Tsukiko Aoyama desu)
“wayo” means woman
物好きじゃないわよMonozuki jya nai wayo(I’m not curious wayo)
And “desuwayo(desu + wayo)” means polite woman = lady, madam, gentlewoman etc!
わたし残酷ですわよWatashi zankoku desuwayo(I’m cruel desuwayo!)
There are countless ends of words in Japanese language!
As they express character’s personality, mastering them lead to greater understanding and enjoying anime and manga!
[Japanese language] 月に代わっておしおきよ！Tsuki ni Kawatte Oshioki yo! (On behalf of the moon, I’ll punish you!)
[Japanese Language] Many “I” in Japanese language
[Japanese Language] I’m not Zura! What is Zura? [Gintama]
